Face plate is in! Such a pain getting it fitted properly. It’s not held in the dash yet, still not quite sure how I’m going to mount the head unit permanently... but I’m loving the A E S T H E T I C S already. Who else is working on projects today?

The faceplate should be held in place with the knobs, the stereo should be screwed in place before the face plate

The faceplate is held in place via knuts and washer on the knobs, but the stereo... Doesn’t seem to screw into anything? There’s one screw hole in the back for a retaining strap but that’s it. My current plan is to use that, and get creative with foam and zip ties

I have been trying to fabricate brackets to put seats in the Jag. Unfortunately the pain meds are working against me.

Are you using the stock brackets as a base or starting from scratch? I’m still amazed that those seats will fit in the jag. Are they hitting the headliner?

Stock sliders and just making plates that bolt to those and then to the seats. Yes, they hit the headliner. I’m going to take height out of the seat foam.

I was just looking at this thread, and yeah with that screw hole in the back you can get a product confusingly called “strapping” which is just a roll of thin metal with a bunch of holes in it, that you can bend and cut to length, to hang the back of the head unit up from... something. Zip ties will work, but can fray over time.
Here again, putting a stereo in a boat, they take a serious pounding from repeated bouncing over waves, etc. so I’ve had to put quite a bit of thought into securing head units. Less important in a car, for sure, but securing it nicely will help eliminate future sources of rattles, too.

Thank you so much for all the help. I ended up getting the amp powered, and the head wired up and mounted with a combination of the backing strap, zip ties in the front, Styrofoam lined in felt and the face plate. I might look into making a custom bracket at some point but this works for now! Fits in with the cars look, which is what I really wanted. And... It sounds fantastic. Super clear highs and lows. Plenty of headroom for distortion-free top down driving. The small subwoofer does wonders. Crazy to think a Miata can sound this good

awesome, nice work! That does look super clean, and totally uninteresting for someone looking for expensive things to swipe...
